FeeL

Today I ate the special shio ramen at FeeL, a superb shop in Deep Ome that is popular enough to have created a FastPass system. It was the best shio ramen I have had in a long time. It included two kinds of delectable pork, as well as succulent wontons. And the soup! It was a delicate shio accentuated with subtle yuzu and browned scallion bits. Very clearly the author of this ramen spent weeks in the test kitchen. Bless them.

The meal was also my first in-person meetup with Ted, who some of you may have the pleasure of knowing as @ gotanda on certain online platforms. We then ate (what is for me a vital post-ramen ritual) ice cream standing in the bright winter sun in the corner of a large 7-11 parking lot. Good times. Although I maybe talked too much of the total time. When the sun went down behind the nearby mountains—which in that area always impress me as much taller and more imposing than Takao area mountains—it became instantly cold and ushered our meeting to an end. I love to meet good people.
