Weird Kanji Combos

Microsoft Teams takes the names of the participants in a call and combines the first character of the surname and first character of the given name to create a little circle representing each participant. This is perfectly normal-feeling to me when the names are alphabetic. But when they are Japanese names, you get one family-name character and one given-name character, and the group of participant-circles becomes a hideous mess of monster names, because it turns out that given-name characters look very strange when combined with family-name characters.

This is an exceedingly unimportant thing.
